Truly Terrible

Attending the Federalist Society Convention's annual dinner tonight, I happened to be in the audience when Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed towards the end of a truly inspiring speech regarding the Bush Administration's efforts to combat terrorism.

It looked for all the world to me as though he suffered a stroke. Of course, my degree is in law, not medicine.

Like former Congressman David McIntosh, who led one before we left after the AG was carried away by emergency personnel, I covet everyone's prayers for our Attorney General. Mine go to him and his family.

James Young is an attorney (licensed in D.C. and Pennsylvania only) with a public interest legal aid organization, is a nationally-recognized expert in labor and constitutional law in the context of individual rights, and recently argued his first case before the United States Supreme Court. He has been married to his wife, Brenda, for 19 years, and they have two sons, Jimmy (12) and Patrick (8). In his professional capacity, he travels frequently, with cases in Philadelphia, Alaska, Hawaii, and California. His clients are quite diverse, and include farmworkers in California, Congressmen in Washington (challenging an Executive Order issued by Bill Clinton), pro football players with the Washington Redskins, and Barry Williams (big brother Greg on the Brady Bunch). Until recently, he was a weekly political columnist for the Potomac News in Woodbridge, Virginia. He is active in Virginia Republican politics, and is a member of the Federalist Society.
