Another Bad Hitlary Idea

It seems that Democrat frontrunner Hitlary Clinton wants to create a national public service academy.

This is the kind of thing that demonstrates the truth in stereotypes, since it only serves the purpose of government control and self-perpetuation of Big Government. After all, the kind of indoctrination for bureaucrats that Hitlary wants to promote is already occurring at many major universities and teachers colleges.

Aside from that, we already have three academies which serve the purpose of training Americans for national public service nicely, thank-you-very much. One is on the banks of the Hudson; another is at the foot of the Rockies; a third is on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

James,

While I appreciate the publicity that you have brought to the U.S. Public Service Academy, I must disagree with your assessment of the idea. I understand that you may not trust Sen. Clinton and thus you are concerned about the Academy idea, but I urge you to keep an open mind about it until you can learn more.

There is a movement to build the Academy that extends far beyond Sen. Clinton or her campaign. Sen. Clinton has co-sponsored the Senate legislation, but we have bipartisan support -- folks like Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Rep. Tom Davis, as well as many military leaders (including the last three superintendents of West Point) are also behind the bill. They certainly are not interested in building a school to perpetuate government bureaucracy, and neither are we.

This is not a Democratic idea, nor is it a Republican idea. It is an American idea. It promises to revitalize our public sector by developing stronger leadership.

Why does this idea appeal to conservatives? For a number of reasons:

1) The Academy will make government better, not bigger.

2) The Academy will focus on character, leadership development, and patriotic service.

3) The Academy will challenge American higher education to do more to encourage a sense of duty and civic obligation.

Ironically, our strongest opposition to date generally has come from liberals in higher education who think they already do a fine job of preparing our public leaders. Perhaps you agree with them. We think America deserves better.

I encourage you and your readers to find out more about the movement to build the Public Service Academy by visiting:

Thanks!

Chris, I'm flattered that you would feel the urge to comment here, but it strikes me that this proposal is tailor-made to serve those who want to grow government and its power over our lives. I visited your site, and the retirement of 44% of the federal bureaucracy in the next five years seems to me like a very good idea, so long as we don't replace them.

I agree with the need for public service and public service leadership. In fact, I am a student of Sam Wilson, who started the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest at Hampden-Sydney College, my alma mater. I am, however, skeptical that the appropriate means for training public service leaders in a democratic republic is through a government-funded/controlled. institution.

"Hitlary"??? Weren't you the one criticizing others for a cartoon of Anne Coulter as a Nazi?

"Do as I say...not as I do"?

James Young said...

That's the problem with far Lefties, Anon: they demonize their opponents with false charges, and object when their agenda is accurately categorized.

As noted elsewhere, Hitlary's quasi-Socialist agenda has much more to do with National SOCIALISM than anything Ann Coulter has EVER advocated.

'Tis a pity that you, Anon, cannot discern the difference.

But thanks for reading!

It has nothing to do with left or right. It has everything to do with civilty in public discourse.

So your caricatures are fine but others are not. Oh, I can read and I can discern hypocracy.

But thanks for confirming my diagnosis of a double standard.

Have a nice day.

Soooo, now you're lecturing me on "civility."

Reveal your identity, and then, perhaps I'll care.

As for "civility," the likes of the Clintons only get what they have given. Their idea of "civility" is Terry Lenzner investigations, saying that Conservatives want to starve and otherwise kill children, and that people who oppose confiscatory taxation are "greedy."

Yeah. "Civility." You go with that.

BTW, it's "hypocrisy."

And among the points is that you people are too ignorant to even even understand your own smears.

Hey, if you don't like "Anonymous" comments you can cure that easily by requiring identification. You DID care enough to reply.

I should have known better than to suggest "civilty" to you, sir.

But you have a nice day, anyway. Try not to stew in the juice of your own angst.

Bye now.

THE DAY WILL COME WHEN THE WORLD IS MINE

Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what can you do for Hillary Clinton. I was a guinea pig at Hillary’s “think tank.” Somewhere, between Purgatory and the Gulag system, Hillary spawned the US Public Service Academy. The Duke lacrosse team fiasco shows that liberal educators have created a phony cultural paradigm that distorts reality. But, nobody exploits phony paradigms, obfuscates the truth, or games the system like the Clintons.

TOMORROW BELONGS TO ME

Set the Wayback Machine for 23 August 1995: a hot day in the nation’s capitol. But 3000 miles due west on California’s Central Coast, a constellation of events was unfolding that would have a profound effect on Western civilization. Yet, this cataclysmic upheaval was only part of the plan. Bill Clinton picked up the telephone. It was his Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, calling from a payphone in Monterey. Bill held the receiver at arms length and gazed at the tasteful floral arrangement that adorned the Oval Office. Leon’s disembodied voice filled the room. What now, asked Hillary. It’s that damn college, mouthed Bill. There was, no getting out. Hillary nodded, just tell Leon he’ll get whatever he needs: http://theseedsof9-11.com
