According to the Virginia Lawyers Weekly, Prince William County/Manassas/Manassas Park Circuit Judge Rossie D. Alston, Jr., is in the mix for appointment to the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Commonwealth's intermediate appellate court.
If elected, Judge Alston --- the Circuit's President Judge --- would be the second Prince William jurist elevated to Court in recent years. Virginia Supreme Court Justice LeRoy F. Millette, Jr., was elevated to the Virginia Court of Appeals before being tapped for the Virginia Supreme Court.
Judge Alston grew up in Dale City, and is highly regarded for his abilities on the softball field.
Delegate Jackson Miller, Republican from Manassas, has apparently been championing Judge Alston's appointment.
UPDATE: Demonstrating uncharacteristic wisdom, the legislature has, in fact, selected Judge Alston for elevation.
